About Kalavedaa

Celebrating India's Rich Artistic Heritage

For thousands of years, Indian artisans have created objects of extraordinary beauty. We exist to make sure that tradition continues — and that the people who carry it are fairly rewarded.

Our Story

Connecting the world with India's artisans.

Kalavedaa was born from a simple observation: India has some of the world's most skilled artisans, but most of them have no direct path to global buyers. Layers of middlemen take the margin. Quality gets diluted. The artisan earns less than they deserve.

We built Kalavedaa to fix that. We work directly with master craftspeople and GI-registered artisan clusters across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh. No unnecessary intermediaries. No compromises on quality or authenticity.

Today, we supply distributors, retailers, hotel chains, and corporate gifting programmes across 18 countries. Every order starts with a conversation about what you need — not a catalogue you scroll through alone.

Our Mission

Preserving traditions. Supporting livelihoods.

The best way to protect a craft tradition is to make it economically viable for the people who practice it. When an artisan can earn a fair income from their skill, they have a reason to keep practicing — and a reason to teach the next generation.

We are building a movement. One that treats Indian craft not as a souvenir or a curiosity, but as a world-class product category. One that gives artisans direct access to global buyers, fair prices, and the recognition they deserve.

01

Fair Wages

We pay artisans directly, at rates that reflect the skill and time their work requires. No race to the bottom.

02

Documented Provenance

Every product ships with a Certificate of Origin and artisan ID. You know exactly who made it and where.

03

Knowledge Transfer

We support artisan training programmes that pass traditional techniques to younger craftspeople.

04

Sustainable Practices

We prioritise natural dyes, recycled materials, and production methods that do not harm the environment.

Art Forms We Source

Twelve traditions. Thousands of years of skill.

Each art form we source has its own history, its own region, and its own visual language. Here is a brief introduction to the crafts you will find in our catalogue.

Madhubani

Bihar

Intricate paintings using natural pigments. Geometric patterns and nature motifs passed down through generations of women artists.

Warli

Maharashtra

Tribal art using simple geometric shapes — circles, triangles, squares — to tell stories of daily life and nature.

Pichwai

Rajasthan

Devotional paintings of Lord Krishna, traditionally made on cloth. Rich colours, fine detail, and deep spiritual meaning.

Dhokra

Odisha & Chhattisgarh

Ancient lost-wax casting in brass. One of the oldest metal-craft traditions in the world, still made by hand today.

Jaipur Block Print

Rajasthan

Hand-carved wooden blocks pressed onto fabric with natural dyes. Every print is slightly different — that is the point.

Kalamkari

Andhra Pradesh

Hand-painted fabric using a bamboo pen and natural dyes. Scenes from mythology, rendered with extraordinary patience.

Pattachitra

Odisha

Scroll paintings on cloth, depicting stories from Hindu mythology. Bold outlines, natural colours, and fine detail.

Bidriware

Karnataka

Zinc-alloy metalwork inlaid with pure silver. The dark metal and bright silver create a contrast unlike anything else.

Blue Pottery

Rajasthan

Persian-influenced pottery with a distinctive blue glaze. Made without clay — a rare and unusual craft tradition.

Pashmina

Kashmir

Hand-woven shawls from the finest Changthangi goat wool. Soft, warm, and made entirely by hand on traditional looms.

Bamboo Craft

Northeast India

Sustainable, handmade products from locally grown bamboo. Functional, beautiful, and kind to the environment.

Terracotta

West Bengal & Rajasthan

Hand-shaped clay fired in traditional kilns. Earthy, warm, and rooted in the oldest craft tradition of all.
